What a wonderful day it was on Sunday as more than 200 people gathered together at HTACC to give glory to God through word, song and sacrament at our 10:00 a.m. service! It’s been quite a while since we had such a turnout on a Sunday and it was a reminder to us of the breadth of our worshipping community.

During the Children’s Talk Pastor Stephen talked about Spring-cleaning even though the recent weather that we’ve been having has led many people to wonder whether Spring will ever come! Stephen talked about the time Jesus went into the Temple and he drove out the moneychangers and those using the temple as a marketplace. Stephen said that even more important than the things Jesus wanted cleared out of the temple were the things in people’s lives that Jesus doesn’t want to be there—things that prevent us from fully living as true disciples of him. Stephen then invited the children to reflect on the garbage in our own lives that Jesus might want to remove from us.

In place of the Sermon this week we heard from our Mission 2018 team that recently traveled to Cambodia. Members of the team spoke about how the trip impacted them and they showed us what the building project entailed. To finish off, a video was shown that captured many of the experiences of the team. We are grateful for the support that our mission teams have received from the people of HTACC. Through the giving of time, resources and prayer it has become very clear that our mission trips have very much been initiatives of our whole church and we are very appreciative of that.

Prayers Extended

Please keep Cindy and Stuart Clark and their extended family in your prayers as they grieve the loss of Cindy’s mother last week.

Into the 70’s!

We’re so grateful for all of the people of the parish that missed the sermon on Feb. 25th that took the time to access it online. The response has been great—with at least 70 people accessing the sermon from our webpage. If you still haven’t had the chance to hear that sermon, we really encourage you to do so by clicking here. If you missed out on the subsequent resource material that Pastor Stephen sent out last week, please let him know by clicking here and he will forward it to you.

Dave Matthews’ Wedding-This Weekend!

It is with great joy that we let you know that Dave Matthews’ wedding to Carolyn Blenkhorn will be taking place this coming Saturday, March 10th at 1pm at Holy Trinity! Even though Dave left Calgary to join Youth With a Mission on the weekend our church building opened way back in 2002, and the fact that he is now an ordained pastor in Ontario, Dave has long been considered a part of our church community. All those who would like to attend the wedding ceremony to celebrate with Dave and Carolyn are most welcome to do so!

College & Careers-This Coming Wednesday

The College & Careers group will be getting together this Wednesday, March 7th at 7pm at the home of Erica Lang. This group is open to people from the church between the ages of 18-30 and is a great way to connect with others and an opportunity to grow in faith. If you have any questions about the College and Careers group or you would like directions to Wednesday’s gathering, please contact Madelyn Worth by clicking here.

Newcomer Lunch Coming Soon!

At the most recent Parish Council meeting it was decided that it was time to increase the frequency of our Newcomer Lunches to accommodate the number of people that are coming new to our church. Our next Newcomer’s Lunch will be held after church on Sunday, April 8th (the Sunday after Easter). If you are new to the church in the past six months or so, or started coming earlier than that but didn’t get a chance to join us for our Newcomer’s Lunch last October, please keep your eyes open for the sign-up sheet that will be at the back of the church in the next couple of weeks or let Pastor Stephen know you’d like to attend the lunch by clicking here.

Pre-Authorized Giving—Available at HTACC

Thank you to those of you that took the time to submit new or amended Pre-Authorized Giving forms this past Sunday. We are very appreciative of the fact that people are doing some intentional reflection of their giving. The Pre-Authorized Program is a great way to save paper and it in turn helps the church so that even when you have to miss a Sunday or two, funds keep coming to the church to help us extend our mission and ministry. If you would like to sign up for The Pre-Authorized Program at HTACC or you would like to make an amendment to the current program please download a form here, fill it out and place it in the offering plate on Sunday.

Kidz Choice Preschool Classes Filling Up!

It’s great to hear that registration is going well for Kidz Choice Preschool—a ministry of HTACC; however, that also means that if you have preschool aged children and they aren’t yet registered in the preschool, time is of the essence if you want them to be attending Kidz Choice this Fall! Currently our M/W/F and our T/Th morning classes are getting close to capacity so please act soon if you’d like your children to be in one of those programs. To register a child for Kidz Choice, please call Sheila at (403) 274-9801 or you can email her by clicking here.

Time Change This Weekend!

Don’t forget that this Saturday night we spring-forward by advancing our clocks by one hour as we begin Daylight Savings Time. Set a reminder today so that you will remember to change your clocks before going to bed on Saturday. That way you be able to join us for the whole service on Sunday rather than arriving just in time for Communion!

Recyclables Still being Collected

Don’t forget, we still collect bottles and other refundable recyclables to help with the mission work that we are doing overseas. If you would like to make arrangements with Dwayne White to donate your recyclables, you can send him an email by clicking here.

HTACC Slo-Pitch Team

Are you looking to play ball this Spring/Summer? We’re looking for new people for our mixed slo-pitch team that is part of the Calgary Christian Slo-Pitch League. The team has a lot of fun together and it is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise too. If you’d like more information about our team, please contact Dwayne White by clicking here.

Calling All Young People!

This is just a shout out to all those young people from our church between grades 6 and 12 (and any of their friends that would like to tag along with them) that you’re invited to join us at the church every Saturday night from 6:45pm to 9:00pm for our Saturday Night Youth. This is a great opportunity for young people to get out of the house, connect with other young people, and have a great time. If you or a young person in your home would like further information about SNY or if you have any questions relating to our youth ministry at HTACC please connect with Jayden, our Pastor of Youth & Children’s Ministries by clicking here.

Youth Group Fund-Raising to be Starting Soon

Our Youth Group has plans once again to be attending YC (that stands for Youth Conference) in Red Deer this May. It sounds as though a good-sized group is already making plans. To help offset the costs of the weekend, the young people of our church will be doing some fund-raising in the coming weeks. Please keep on the lookout for them and support them in any way you are able.

The Week Ahead…

In the week ahead we encourage you to reflect on the ways in which God is calling you to step out of your comfort zones. How might he be calling you to reach out to those in the margins—whether that is locally or in places overseas? How might you be used by God to bring joy and happiness to the life of somebody else?

We pray that as the season of Lent continues, you will continue to be aware of God’s presence with you as you seek to follow Jesus in discipleship. We hope that the week ahead is a good one and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday at HTACC!
